Threshold reduced for Class A customers – More consumers can now participate in the ICI Program
The Industrial Conservation Initiative has allowed large Industrial Consumers to reduce their electricity costs by reducing their Peak Demand Factor on Top 5 peak days. Since 2011, this program has allowed consumers to remain competitive in Ontario, while helping maintain the grid’s reliability.
New for this year, the threshold to participate has been reduced. The program is now open for manufacturing or greenhouse facilities with an average monthly peak demand of 500kW or above. (i.e., with NAICS codes commencing with the digits “31”, “32”, “33” or “1114”). 500kW average monthly peak demand is equal to a monthly bill of roughly $40,000/month or more.
